VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – 02-05-2019 (PRDistribution.com) — BACK BAY RESTORATION FOUNDATION TO TAKE PROACTIVE STAND TO PROTECT WATERSHED
The national housing recovery is now almost 10 years old, and with this recovery, development pressure and urban sprawl within the Back Bay Watershed has returned. The Back Bay Restoration Foundation (BBRF), a non-profit 501 C-3 organization with a mission to preserve, protect, and improve Back Bay and adjacent watersheds, will again take a high profile and proactive stand to protectthe watershed where we live, work and play.
On January 15, 2019 the Back Bay Restoration Foundation Board of Directors took several significant actions. The Board elected three new Directors: John Cromwell, Molly Brown, and Mark Johnson. All three Directors are long-time residents of the Watershed and have proven, varied, track records as leaders in natural resource conservation. In addition, the Board hired Jared Brandwein as the Executive Director of BBRF.
Jared joins BBRF with 38 years of experience as a Federal land manager. His dedication to the Back Bay Watershed has been demonstrated with two assignments to the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. The first assignment was from 1984-88 as a Refuge Management Trainee. Jared then returned to the Refugeas the Manager from 2003-2012.
“To say I am passionate about the health and welfare of the Back Bay is an understatement. Now is the time for the Back Bay Restoration Foundation to take its’ place at the forefront of conservation to protect the only large, undeveloped area left in Virginia Beach,” states Brandwein.
The Board has received a generous private pledge, positioning the Back Bay Restoration Foundation as an awakened watchdog and defender of Virginia Beach’s Southern Watersheds.
