United States, California, Burbank – 06-23-2020 (PRDistribution.com) — “Smoking Gun-A Murder Mystery” had an invitation only casting call in Los Angeles last week and the turn-out was incredibly robust for the 12 roles being cast. The company had over 1200 submissions and the talented twelve actors who received the roles will be announced in early July.

According to Jill J. Todd, Casting Manager for Wanda-Halcyon Television – “We made sure to follow all Covid 19 protection protocols to safeguard all auditioning actors and casting staff to include casting by video conference. It was a pleasure to be back at the Four Seasons Hotel after being quarantined in Europe”

“Smoking Gun” is the brainchild of award-winning producer, writer and former BBC executive, Sutish Sharma of New Street Pictures. The manuscript was considered one of the hot Hollywood properties’ of 2016 due to its adaptability to the television series format and it’s cutting edge subject matter. In 2016, Mr Sharma, the creator of the project, sold the rights to producer, Pat Andrew, who helped arrange financing and worked with Mr Sharma as a creative partner. Mr Andrew formerly worked for Hollywood icon, Sidney Korshak, specifically as an advisor to the IATSE Union and then went on to work in finance and acquisitions for Spelling Entertainment on Melrose Place and other Spelling Productions and was recently named one of the Top Ten Producers to watch out for in Europe in 2020.

“Smoking-Gun” follows the fictional FBI investigation of a civil rights murder in Los Angeles during the turbulence of the 1980s. The case leads the show’s protagonist, a world-weary FBI special agent, to the Nicaraguan Contras and the inner sanctum of the Central Intelligence Agency and its connection to drug trafficking in Los Angeles.

“After three years in pre-production, and the last few months in Covid 19 “lockdown”, I am very excited to start filming this summer” said writer, Sutish Sharma, from London, England.

According to Lucy Carver of Wanda-Halcyon Television, the final casting call will take place in Spain in the next few weeks and the media agency, Hormiguea, will be coordinating casting in conjunction with Wanda-Halcyon offices.

The production will be filmed in America and Spain starting this summer.
