United States, California, San Francisco – 08-03-2020 (PRDistribution.com) — Onramp, a leading diversity workforce solutions company, launched the Summer of Reskilling initiative this week, designed to help displaced workers find new careers, in partnership with leading training providers and partner companies.
Over the past 4 months, the world has experienced a dramatic economic disruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With many workers displaced, it’s become increasingly important to provide actionable support for those looking to adapt their skills to in-demand jobs. While it has long been surmised that a digital skills gap exists between the workforce companies need and the current workforce available, that differential is now even more acute and being felt by millions of out of work Americans. This is why leading training providers have joined the Onramp movement to reskill American workers through Summer of Reskilling. Featured partners like Treehouse will offer free access to training resources while Onramp will help guide job seekers along training paths and connect them with hiring companies who are also participating in the initiative.
“Empowering people with the job-ready skills they need to launch high-paying careers is the core of what we do at Treehouse,” says Treehouse CEO, Ryan Carson. “Since 2010, we’ve taught more than 650,000 people. We’re excited and grateful to be a part of the Summer of Reskilling. The pandemic is impacting all of us, and we look forward to continuing to empower people with the resources they need to transform their lives.”
The global pandemic has also disproportionately affected women, Black, and Latinx professional communities. Onramp specializes in diversity workforce development, connecting a network of job seekers, specifically from these underrepresented communities.
“In times like these, it’s important to get resources into the hands of those that need it the most,” said Onramp CEO Lateesha Thomas, “we’re honored to launch this collaborative campaign with our partners, to bring some relief to job seekers in need, and to surface eager talent to companies that are looking to support these communities.”
In response to the current global economic crisis, many companies have stepped forward to offer measures of help. Udemy, an international educational content provider has seen not only an uptick in demand for content on its platform but also a willingness and desire by partner companies to support job seekers in new and creative ways.
“Udemy’s mission is to improve lives through learning, so we are excited to bring free resources to help individuals overcome obstacles and organizations surface talent as we navigate through our rapidly changing world,” Shannon Hughes, VP, Corporate Communications, Udemy
There are currently over 5MM+ jobs added in June, many of which require in-demand technical upskilling and reskilling that Onramp and its partners provide.
